2016년에, 새롭게 출시된 신학사전입니다. 정확하게 말하자면, 이전에 출판되었던 신학사전에서 완전히 개정되고 업그레이드 된 판입니다. 지난 수십년간의 연구를 통해, 신학 용어들이나 신학 사조들이 다시금 포함되었고, 약 300명 이상의 필진이 참여했습니다. 그 필진 중에는, 우리에게 익숙한 토드 빌링스, 트렘퍼 롱맨 3세, 존 골딩게이, 앤토니 티슬턴, 존 웹스터, 니콜라스 톰 라이트 등이 있습니다.

총 800개의 항목을 담고 있는데, 초판과 비교하여 분량에 있어서는 약 30퍼센트 이상이 증가되었고(약 1,000페이지), 기존 약 200개의 항목은 개정되습니다. 자체적으로 상호참조가 되어있으며, 바로 그 신학자 케빈 벤후저(Kevin Vanhoozer)가 자문편집위원으로 참여했습니다.

현재 국내에는 신학용어집, 신학인명 사전, 성서신학, 선교학, 교육학 등과 관련된 사전들이 있으며, 신학 사전으로는 본서의 초판의 번역인 아가페 IVP 신학 사전이 있었으나, 그것은 본서의 개정판 2판이 아닌 초판인데다가 현재 절판된 상태입니다.
